Hyundai Automotive South Africa is set to launch the facelifted Creta in Mzansi in the 2nd week of September 2026 – and Cars.co.za can confirm the local portfolio will comprise a pair of derivatives, including a new turbocharged “N Line” flagship variant.
As a reminder, Hyundai Automotive SA switched to the Indonesian-built Creta in July 2022, having originally sourced this crossover from India (1st-gen from 2017 and 2nd-gen from 2020). In November 2024, the brand’s local distributor cut Creta pricing and introduced new “Matte Edition” derivatives to the range.
Now, with local stock of the pre-facelift version having seemingly been depleted, Hyundai Automotive SA is preparing to roll out the refreshed (still 2nd generation) Creta, which was revealed in Indonesia back in early 2025. According to our information, the updated local line-up will comprise 2 derivatives at launch:
- Hyundai Creta 1.5 Premium CVT
- Hyundai Creta 1.5T N Line DCT
The range looks set to kick off with the Creta 1.5 Premium CVT, which we suspect will simply inherit the outgoing version’s naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine. Expect this 4-cylinder motor to deliver an unchanged 84 kW and 144 Nm to the front axle via a continuously variable transmission (CVT), with the manual variant falling away.
Meanwhile, we understand a new Creta 1.5T N Line DCT derivative will also be offered, marking a return to turbopetrol power for the Creta. Based on the Indonesian market, this variant’s turbocharged 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol mill (seemingly the same engine Kia uses in the related Seltos 1.5 T-GDi GT-Line) sends 118 kW and 253 Nm to the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
In that market, the Creta 1.5T N Line is further set apart by derivative-specific 18-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers, N Line bumpers (front and rear), a satin-black grille, a twin exhaust tailpipe and the requisite smattering of “N Line” logos.
Inside, this range-topping variant sports a 3-spoke leather-trimmed steering wheel, an N Line gear-shift knob, black paddle shifters, various red accents (on the steering wheel and pews, for instance), “N” logos on the front seats and black headlining.
