About Land Rover
Land Rover is a British automobile company that initially was run as part of the Rover Company. The model name for the first 4x4 the Rover Company released was the Land Rover and was based on the chassis of a Jeep by Rovers chief designer Maurice Wilks. The design of the body was largely influenced by the fact that there was a shortage of metals after the Second World War. Land Rover vehicles have been very popular and have seen a lot of use in the British army due to their reliability and being mechanically simple to repair. In more recent times Land Rover has established itself as a 4x4 powerhouse and is second only to Jeep as the longest running 4x4 manufacturers. Currently Land Rover is part of Jaguar and is owned by Tata.
