Not many people know Mercedes-Benzs special trucks division (MBS) which builds trucks like the Unimog Concept based on the U 5000 Unimog. This monster concept wowed crowds at the Johanesburg International Motor Show with its crisp green exterior paint, very large wheels and the fact that it’s a two seater with very smooth leather seats.
The first Unimog rolled off the assembly line back on June 3, 1951. The Mercedes-Benz Unimog Concept design although based on the U 5000 was inspired by the poison dart frog with stage like headlights, red painted coil springs, and green mudguards.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the concept vehicle shows that even after 60 years – and including the 26 product ranges during this period – the Unimog is still able to renew itself.
