This entry-level derivative employs a turbocharged 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol mill that delivers 74 kW and 160 Nm to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox (with a claimed consumption of 5.9 L/100 km). It makes do with 17-inch steel wheels, rear drum brakes and black-and-grey fabric upholstery, but does score a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a reverse-view camera, electronic stability control and 6 airbags.
The Tekton 1.3T Visia 6DCT (R399 999) is next, switching to a turbocharged 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder petrol motor (badged as the “T260”) that offers 115 kW and 260 Nm to the front axle through a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission as standard. This variant gains features such as cruise control, paddle shifters and an electric parking brake with an auto-hold function (plus discs rather than drums at the rear). Claimed fuel economy comes in at 6.3 L/100 km.
The Tekton 1.3T Acenta 6DCT slots into the middle of the portfolio, priced from R459 999. This trim level upgrades to 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, push-button start, dual-zone automatic air conditioning (as opposed to manual air con), a larger instrument cluster (measuring 10 inches as opposed to 7), wireless smartphone charging, a multi-view camera system, 2 tweeters (for the 4-speaker sound system) and blue-and-black “semi-PVC” upholstery.
Meanwhile, the Tekton 1.3T Tekna 6DCT comes in at R499 999, gaining full-PVC upholstery (in a navy-blue-and-black combination), a powered driver’s seat, front-seat ventilation, rain-sensing wipers, 48-colour ambient lighting and a raft of advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) features. Finally, the Tekton 1.3T Tekna+ 6DCT tops the range at R529 999, set apart by its powered tailgate, black roof and beige-and-burgundy cabin colour scheme.
