Description
2016 VW Caravelle 2.0 BiTDI 4Motion – 159 100 km – all the big stuff already done
Anyone who’s looked at any Caravelle knows the worry: it’s not the price you pay, it’s what’s coming after. Turbos, engine, suspension, tyres. On this one I’ve already paid for all of that, and I have the slips to prove it.
Work done (receipts available):
Full engine rebuild about +-15 000 km ago
Both turbos replaced
Gearbox oil and Haldex (4x4) oil changed
Engine mountings and thermostat housing replaced
Starter motor replaced
Upgraded to Koni shocks with new shock mountings ( +-10 000 km ago)
Front end redone: wheel bearing, CV and wishbones, since there was some play
Michelin LTX Trail tyres with RevTec puncture protection, so no more stress about a peg in the tread
Upgraded infotainment system plus reverse camera
It’s permanent 4x4 with a rear diff lock and very good traction control. Since the Konis went in, it drives beautifully smooth and holds the road much better than before. Dirt road to the campsite, long trip to the coast, it doesn’t matter. For us, the holiday never started at the destination. It started the moment everyone climbed in.
Honestly, it has a few minor scratches here and there (see photos), as you’d expect from a family car. Mechanically it’s basically like new. You won’t need to spend money on it.
I’d really love this to go to a young family rather than a company. It has given us a lot of good trips and it has plenty more in it. A family will get the most out of it.
Extras:
The internal table is available, just not in the photos
I still have the standard road tyres. If you’d prefer them, I’ll swap them back and take R10 000 off and I have the brackets for the thule roofbars if you are interested.
R545 000 incl VAT. You’re welcome to bring your own mechanic to check it over.
