2008 Land Rover Defender 90

The Land Rover series I, II and III were off-road vehicles produced by Rover from 1948. The car was inspired by the US-built Willys Jeep and are commonly referred to as series Land Rovers. The car was launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show in April 1948.The Land Rover was the first mass-produced civilian four-wheel drive car with doors. Land Rovers had a reputation for being very robust cars and in 1992 Land Rover claimed that more than 70% of all the cars they produced were still on the road!

The Land Rover Defender was developed in the 1980’s from the original Land Rover Series cars and the very last Defender was produced in January 2016, 67 years after the first car was produced; the end of an era!

This specific car is a 2008 Land Rover 90 Sixty Year Edition Soft Top, branded the SVX. It is a one owner car with a good service history and only 61710kms from new.

All the cars were finished in black with the 60 year logo in satin effect on the sides and the bonnet of the car. The car has five spoke alloy wheels and a new silver colored front grille. The new grille incorporated a new headlamp with the sidelight integral with the headlamp with driving lamps fitted next to the headlamp.

On the interior the car had Recaro bucket seats in the front with an alloy gearlever knob and a Garmin navigation system. The engine was the standard 2,4-litre diesel engine with 6 speed manual transmission and permanent four-wheel-drive. The SVX were available in three models namely the 90, the 110 and a brand new 90 Soft Top version. The Sof Top had only two front seats and the loading bay was used to house the spare wheel and a lockable storage box. The hood was also redesigned and sloped towards the rear, unlike the square framed hoods on other Land Rovers.

1800 Units were produced in total and South Africa received about 100 cars. Great opportunity to own a limited numbers car of this iconic British 4x4!
