This is not a factory variant. It is something better -- a Td5 that was taken apart and rebuilt from the ground up, with a bespoke cabriolet conversion as the centrepiece of the entire project. There is no other one like it, and that is entirely the point.

The full bumper-to-bumper rebuild was completed approximately three years ago and included a custom two-tone silver and grey respray, fresh leather seats, and an automatic gearbox conversion sourced from a Discovery 2. The auto conversion is worth noting specifically -- it changes the character of the drive entirely and makes this one of the most enjoyable Defenders you are likely to sit in, without losing any of what makes the model worth owning.

Since the rebuild, the vehicle has been serviced and maintained exclusively by Auto Excellence Stellenbosch. The previous owner kept it at his holiday house, which accounts for the limited use and ultimately the decision to sell.
