In what sounds like a wrestling match and not a drag race, the new Toyota Hilux Legend 2.8 GD-6 RS, with the uprated 150 kW motor, takes on the latest special edition from Ford, the Ranger Thunder.
Ford has managed to squeeze 157 kW from its 2.0-litre BiTurbo diesel motor, but both cars have torque outputs of 500 Nm.
The Ranger is a fair bit heavier though, which usually doesn’t help in a drag race, but it does have a slicker shifting transmission, which will help.
