Mini Countryman Untamed confirmed for SA

The Mini Countryman Untamed brings the spirit of adventuring and overlanding to the fashionable urban brand. Here’s all you need to know.

The Mini Countryman Untamed adds a touch of ruggedness and capability to a product that’s seen as a premium urban family car. It’s not just a cosmetic upgrade as the vehicle gets all-terrain tyres, all-wheel drive and an increased ground clearance. For those wanting even more, Mini has partnered with Autohome and Helinox and there’s a purpose-developed roof-mounted tent and outdoor accessories.

The Untamed rides on specifically-developed 19-inch Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tyres. There are some strategically positioned decals on the flanks to help protect the vehicle sides and there’s underbody protection. There’s a suspension lift kit which raises the ground clearance by 19 mm. As a reminder, the standard Countryman has a ground clearance of 202 mm. A tow bar is fitted as standard.

Visually, there are three new colours; Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue and Frozen Nomad Blue – the latter being being the first matte paint offered for a production Mini. Inside there are unique Untamed branded sports seats and blue contrast stitching. A smart move by Mini was to include rubber floor mats.

The Mini Countryman S All4 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine making 150 kW and 300 Nm. Power goes to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In terms of performance and economy, Mini claims 0-100 kph in 7.4 seconds and 7.6 L/100 km respectively.

Mini Countryman Untamed Coming to South Africa

Mini South Africa has confirmed the Countryman Untamed will be available on the Countryman S All4 and will go on sale in the second quarter of 2027. Surprisingly, Mini said that both the roof tent and suspension lift are not for our market, which seems a bit counter intuitive to us as these are the vehicle’s unique selling points.
