Honda’s Urban EV concept previews electric future

Honda has shown off its Urban EV Concept car, which not only previews the Tokyo-based firm's future technologies… it's heading for production.

The Honda Urban EV Concept is assembled on an all-new platform and in terms of design, looks like a really cool retro mobile. What's really exciting is that Honda will be making a production version! Honda Motor Co. President and CEO, Takahiro Hachigo, during his press conference speech. "This is not some vision of the distant future; a production version of this car will be here in Europe in 2019," he added, confirming that the concept is set to be launched within 2 years. Honda's Urban EV is a little smaller than the current Jazz, but sits lower and wider which gives it a sporty driving stance. In the cabin, there is room for four seated on two benches. The front of the cabin is dominated by a large wide dashboard display.

The big tech here is Honda's Automated Network Assistant, which is your personal concierge. It has advanced learning and can detect emotions, which it'll then apply to make new decisions.  The car is also a zero-emission electric vehicle which can release its energy back into the national grid or used to power your home. The Urban EV forms part of Honda's Electric Vision strategy for the future.
