About Lamborghini
Ferruccio Lamborghini was drafted into the Italian air force in 1940 and became a mechanic where he honed his skills and developed expertise working on machinery. After the war he began making tractors from spare parts and military equipment in a garage he opened in Pieve Di Cento. By the 1950’s his company, Lamborghini Trattori S.p.A, was producing over 1000 tractors a year. Ferruccio owned many cars during the resulting years and often complained about the drivability of the Ferrari’s that he owned, until a confrontation with Enzo Ferrari resulted in the idea of him making his own brand of automobile. Lamborghini began modifying a 250GT to produce a car to his own specification. In 1963 the first Lamborghini factory was built. Today Lamborghini is part of the Volkswagen group.
