Daihatsu is a Japanese company and was formed in 1951. Daihatsu signed an agreement with Toyota in 1967. In 1988 Daihatsu USA was formed and Daihatsu vehicles were sold in The United States of America. Toyota currently maintains a controlling stake in Daihatsu with 51% ownership. In recent times Daihatsu has had to withdraw the sale of its vehicles from various countries after their sales stats dropped too low.
